Design Considerations for Children's Memorials

Children's memorials call for a different tone from adult memorials. Designs tend to be softer, gentler, and more symbolic — using imagery that reflects innocence, tenderness, and love rather than formal commemoration. Stars, moons, butterflies, teddy bears, sleeping figures, angel wings, and gentle flower motifs are among the most widely chosen design elements.

Where a photographic portrait is available and desired, we can produce one with the same HD quality as all our portrait work. For very young infants where no suitable photograph exists, a meaningful motif or simply a beautifully typeset inscription can convey everything that needs to be said.

Granite is the ideal material for all weather conditions and long-term durability. We treat every children's headstone with our protective sealant and offer the full range of granite colours — white (often chosen for children's memorials for its associations with purity), light grey, black, and others — depending on what the family feels is most fitting.
